Signature Item

At any point during his career, a character may declare any one piece of magical equipment to be his signature item. The character forms a permanent bond with that signature item. The item is considered to be the character’s signature item forever, even if it is destroyed. Unless he takes the Additional Signature feat, a character may only ever have one signature item.

Once a signature item is declared, the character may spend his XXP to purchase Signature Points, which can in turn be spent to improve the Signature Item. These improvements apply only when the owner is using the item; anyone else using the item does not enjoy the benefits of the improvements.

Between sessions, you may spend XXP to earn signature points. The number of signature points earned per XPP spent is 4 times your character level.

How it Works

Most magical items come with a base form, as well as a progression of up to ten enhancements. In its base form, a magical item functions identically for all characters. However, if a character declares the item as his signature item, that character may spend signature points to improve upon that item.

Between sessions, a character may purchase exactly one signature item enhancement. The next time the character uses the enhanced item, he will enjoy the new bonuses.
